We’ve never been very interested in making those.
Goalsoul started in Sheffield in 2010 with a simple instinct: some of the most interesting things about football happen when you look beyond the score.
The game collides with music. Art. Film. Politics. Design. Place. Humour. History.
And occasionally, Pythagoras.
That’s where most Goalsoul designs begin.
CRUYFF MEETS PYTHAGORAS
FOOTBALL × MATHEMATICS
Johan Cruyff saw the game differently.
Angles. Space. Movement. Possibilities that seemed to appear before anyone else had noticed them.
He was once described as “Pythagoras in Boots” for the complexity and precision of his angled passing.
That phrase gave us the idea.
Cruyff and geometry. Football intelligence expressed through mathematics.
An unlikely connection at first.
Then you look again.

MANCHESTER CITY MEETS NEW ORDER
FOOTBALL × MUSIC × PLACE
23 October 2011.
Manchester United 1. Manchester City 6.
One of those scores that stops being a result and becomes part of a city’s mythology.
Manchester gave us the other half of the idea.
New Order. Factory Records. Blue Monday.
The result became FACT 1-6.
And Blue Monday became Blue Sunday.
Football, music and Manchester compressed into one design.
ZLATAN MEETS THE BICYCLE THIEF

Not every Goalsoul idea begins with a famous goal.
Sometimes it begins with a story.
Long before Zlatan Ibrahimović became Zlatan, there was a boy from Rosengård cycling to Malmö FF training on stolen bikes.
One of those stories eventually acquired a title that was too good to ignore.
The Bicycle Thief.
A football story meeting the language of cinema.
That collision is pure Goalsoul.
CORINTHIANS MEETS DEMOCRACY
FOOTBALL × POLITICS × HISTORY
Football can reflect the world around it.
In Brazil in the early 1980s, Corinthians became one of the clearest examples.
Players including Sócrates, Wladimir and Casagrande helped create a radically democratic way of running the club — voting collectively on decisions at a time when Brazil itself was still under military rule.
The movement became known as Corinthians’ Democracy.
It was football as participation. Football as politics. Football as an argument about how people should be treated.
Exactly the kind of story that reminds us the game has never existed in isolation.

Some Goalsoul ideas travel around the world.
This one starts at home.
Sheffield’s place in football runs deeper than a single club or moment. The city gave the game Sheffield FC, the Sheffield Rules and some of the earliest foundations of the football we recognise today.
That history inspired Football’s First City.
Not nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake.
A celebration of the place where football began to find its shape.
For Goalsoul, Sheffield isn't simply where we happen to be based.
It's part of the story.

It belongs to cities and families, music and politics, fashion and art, Saturday afternoons and half-remembered moments from years ago.
That’s the football we’re interested in.
And after all these years, we’re still looking for the next connection.
