In November 2007, Pelé visited Sheffield as the city celebrated 150 years of Sheffield FC and its extraordinary place in football history.

The man synonymous with Brazil and the global game had travelled to South Yorkshire to acknowledge where so much of it began.

During his visit, Pelé said:

“I get everything from football… and I have to thank Sheffield.”
