In the middle of it stands Dinamo captain Zvonimir Boban.

THE GOALSOUL INTERPRETATION

Cause and Affect asks what happens when a footballer becomes part of history beyond the game.

During the disorder Boban intervened in a confrontation involving a supporter and police, then kicked a police officer. The moment was photographed, filmed and rapidly acquired meaning far beyond football.

The Maksimir riot did not cause the wars that followed. It became one of the images through which Yugoslavia's breakdown was later remembered, particularly in Croatian national memory.
