Glasgow. 1872.

England take to the field for the world's first official international football match wearing three lions on their shirts.

The lions would become one of football's most recognisable national symbols.

But look more closely at the badge.

There are ten Tudor roses hiding between them.

When the familiar Three Lions crest was redesigned in 1949, ten Tudor roses were scattered around the lions.

The lions inevitably command attention.
